SHIITAKE

Syangu, black mushroom, aromatic mushroom

The mushroom obtained its name for its particular gustative qualities and for its colour. Is known in the entire world with another name : Reclining Buddha’s mushroom.

In ancient Japan, when they cultivated the mushroom, the monks beat with a wooden hammer in a tree, on which the mushroom was growing, with the only purpose to awake the «sleeping mycelium» and also Buddha himself, not to forget to put in Shiitake special therapeutic properties.

The Shiitake’s therapeutic properties are unique, fact confirmed by the fungotherapy’s multi-millenary history and the numerous clinical researches in Europe, America, Russia. For biochemistry this mushroom became sensational, because were simultaneously made two discoveries:the «lentinan» polysaccharide selected for the first time and having an unique antitumor property, unequalled in vegetal world and similar volatile compounds, called «fungic phystocides», able to fight any viruses, from the slightest rhinovirus (viruses causing common cold) up to the viruses of AIDS disease.

Lentinan is used in the complex antitumoral therapy as preparation, slowing down the development of various tumours and preventing the formation of metastasis by activating the immunitary system. Lentinan is connected to the surface of lymphocytes or specific proteins from serum that activates macrophages, T-helper cells, natural killer cells and other cells with effect. These mechanisms of activation lead to increase the production of antibodies, interleukins (IL-1, IL-2, IL-12) and Y-interferon. In this way, the lentinan’s antitumoral effect is expressed in the increase of the immunity status.

The polysaccharide’s immunomodulating action allows to be used in case of some different immunodeficiency conditions. Using the Shiitake’s Lentinan leads to the restoration of the diminished activity  of the immunocompetent cells. In this sense, takes place the restoration of T-helpers’ activity, revealing a series of biologically active factors, which increase the number of activated macrophages, antigen-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocytes, indurates the cooperative interaction of immunocompetent cells. Shiitake has a unique capacity to eliminate the cholesterol, contributes to blood pressure’s normalization, removes the organism’s pathogenic flora. Shiitake is a wonderful immunoregulator and may be used as a prophylactic mean of prevention of viral diseases and colds.

In case of diabetes is used as a remedy to reduce glycaemia, its use is demonstrated also as insulin addiction, especially for the prophylaxis of the disease’s complications. In general, the mushroom is differentiated by a very large spectrum of the therapeutic action.

GANODERMA

Ganoderma lucidum

Informations about the Ganoderma mushroom; Used in Oriental Medicine over 4 thousands years.

According to ancient sources, the mushroom is known as «elixir of eternal youth» or «divine plant».

In USA and Canada is known as Ganoderma. Is also named: Ling-Shi or «Mushroom of Immortality» in China; Reishi («1000 year-old mushroom») in Japan.

The dry ganoderma mushroom contains 2,54% polysaccharides, 5% lipids, 17,11% proteins and 62,63% fibres, has 0,3% saponins, 1,15% steroids and also a large quantity of micro-elements.

Many of the ganoderma’s therapeutic effects are connected to the presence of polysaccharides exercising an antitumoral activity. In Japan is demonstrated the efficacy of prophylaxis and treatment of oncological diseases, using ganoderma’s preparations.

Is demonstrated that the immunomodulator effect is connected to the polysaccharides’ action over the bone marrow, accompanied by the RNA and DNA’s growth with 50%, with the growth of the number of lymphocytes B and macrophages. The level of restoring the affected immunitary system, inclusively in case of AIDS disease and the antitumoral activity depend on the treatment’s duration, by using ganoderma.

The preparations of this mushroom improve the myocardium’s contractility, improving the blood circulation and reducing the oxygen’s necessity. The treatment with ganoderma preparations for patients in  cardiology wards was efficient in 81,8% of the cases, when it was recommended during one month. The use of this mushroom in the clinic with cardiovascular pathology is connected to its capacity to reduce at people with risk group, the level of triglycerides and lipoproteins with low density in serum with 68-74%, to inhibit the cholesterol’s biosynthesis, more, the therapeutic effect is more important so as is bigger the level of hypercholesterolomia. MELANIN

The preparation represents a buckwheat seed extract, obtained through a special extractive technology. Crystal product, with high molecular contents (melanin) with dark brown colour and may be quite well dissolved in water. Melanin are natural pigments, bio-polymers in bound state, found in many organisms (animals, plants, micro-organisms)

In the human organism have the role of photo- and radio- cellular protectors, endogenous regulators redox potentials, of the hormones of homeopathic reactions. The most efficient are the soluble melanins, carriers of the pigment’s chromogeneous part and that are introduced in organism orally or intravenously. These melanins are reluctant to the development of neurotic exchanges and pathological somatic modifications, which may be connected to the normalization of the neurotransmitting processes, as well as to the inhibition of oxidation reactions of free radicals of lipids from cellular membranes. Among natural antioxidants, melanin is the most active substance, at which the presence of more paramagnetic centres facilitates the interaction with radicals. The melanin’s paramagnetic centres contribute to the deactivation of labile free radicals, which appear after the organism’s irradiation with UV rays or with ionizing radiation and, also, in the result of some fermentation processes and in autoxidation reactions.
